D. Proposed sign copy.

2. Q: Are phone numbers allowed on signs (including non-real estate signs)?
A: Yes, per the City Attorney 10/13/98 (PS98-97).
3. Q: What sign height regulations apply to pole signs in Car Country. ,
A: Pursuant to the Car Country Sign Program, each lot is permitted one freestanding
sign (pole sign) not to exceed the height of the building located on the lot and in
no case greater than 35 feet. If the ap.plicant has a sign permit for an existing
pole sign which exceeds the height of the existing building and wants to remove,
or replace such pole sign, then the proposed pole sign shall not exceed the
height of the existing building. If the applicant is only proposing to change the
sign face or sign copy, then the existing pole sign height may be maintained.
If the lot does not have an existing pole sign, then the lot is permitted one
freestanding sign (pole sign) not to exceed the height of the building located on
the lot and in no case greater than 35 feet.
Substandard Lots
1 .' Q: Can a dwelling unit be erected on a substandard lot?
A: Pursuant to section 21.46.21 0 of the Zoning Ordinance, when a lot has less than the ,
minimum required area or width as set forth in any of the zones contained herein, or in a
precise plan, and was of record on the effective date of the ordinance codified in the title, such
lot shall be deemed to have complied with the minimum required lot area or width as set forth in
any such zone or precise plan. The lot area per dwelling unit shall, however, remain as
specified in the applicable area district, except that in no instance shall this provision prevent
the erection of a single-family dwelling on any substandard lot.

1. Q. What are landscaped driveways and streets and when and how can they be
used?
A. Landscaped driveways and streets are improvements that meet the City's
standard required street or driveway widths but also include landscaped
medians, chokers, etc. within the improvement area. Typically, these are used
as traffic calming devices but also are seen as pedestrian amenities making the
neighborhood more inviting to walk. They create the perception that the
driveway or street is a shared resource; not one owned solely by the driver, but
used by residents as well. These landscaped elements can be included in
developments rsuch as apartments, condominiums, and planned unit
developments, subject to the approval of the Engineering and Fire Departments
and your Principal Planner when the following provisions are met:
