BOX 230562 ENCINTAS, CA 92023 Re: Application For Sign Permit (2777 Jefferson St.) Dear Gloria: Thank you for submitting the application to install a freestanding sign at the above referenced location. Staff has reviewed your application and determined that it is approvable. However, because the sign will be located within a public right-of-way, an encroachment agreement will need to be obtained from the Engineering Department's front counter at 1635 Faraday Avenue. Once the encroachment permit is obtained, we can proceed in issuing the sign permit. If you have any further questions, please contact me at (760) 434-2812. Sincerely, CITY OF CARLSBAD AUSTIN SILVA Planning Technician 2965 Roosevelt St., Ste. According to the sign plan that was provided, the sign is to be located thirty inches behind the sidewalk, but the improvement plans show that the right-of-way line/property line is 10.47 feet behind the sidewalk. Therefore, the sign will be located within the public right-of-way. I have attached a copy of the improvement plan, Drawing 146-8: Page 3 of 16, and a copy of the Assessor's Parcel Map showing the width of public right-of-way. I understand that the previous sign was installed thirty inches behind the sidewalk and that the new sign wili be installed at the same location. I saw no corner sight visibility conflicts with the sign being located thirty inches behind the sidewalk and thirty feet north of the southerly property line. Therefore, from a sight distance perspective, the sign location is acceptable. However, since the sign will be located within public right-of-way, an encroachment agreement will need to be obtained from the Engineering Department's front counter at 1635 Faraday Avenue. The Engineering Counter staff can be contacted at 760-602-2750 for details on processing time of the agreement. If you have any questions, please contact me at 760-602-2759.
