showing how the proposed signage will not encroach into the public right-of-way or present a traffic

SITE PLAN REQUIREMENT FOR POLE, MONUMENT, AND FREESTANDING SIGN
APPLICATIONS
The following example illustrates the information that is required for all pole, monument,-and
freestanding sign permit applications. Prior to approval, all such proposed signs must be reviewed
for potential issues by the Traffic Engineering Department, which will not allow signs to be
approved over the counter. Additional time will be required for on-site inspection.

Relationship to Streets: Signs shall be designed and located so as not to interfere with the
unobstructed clear view of the public right-of-way and nearby traffic regulatory signs of any
pedestrian, bicyclist or motor vehicle driver
Sight Distance: No sign or sign structure shall be placed or constructed so that it impairs the sight
distance requirements at any public or private street intersection or driveway.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
(SEE "INSTALLATION FIELD MANUAL # A15552" EOR FOUNDATION AND INSTALLATION STDS.)
1. INSPECT CRATE UPON DELIVERY AND NOTIFY PLASTI-LINE OF ANY
OBVIOUS SHIPPING DAMAGE.
2. TEST LIGHT SIGN AND NOTIFY PLASTI-LINE OF ANY PROBLEMS.
3. DIG I-OUNDATION: SET FOUNDATION , ANCHOR BOLTS, AND POUR
CONCRETE. (SEE NOTE SHEET 4)
4. ALLOW CONCRETE 7 DAYS TO CURE.
5. OPEN CLAD CRATING ON REMOVABLE CLAD SIDE ONLY.
6. PLACE COLUMN INSIDE CLADDING, ALIGN AND INSTALL LIFTING HOOK
THROUGH CLADDING INTO TOP OF COLUMN.
7. REPLACE REMOVABLE CLADDING.
8. CAREFULLY LIFT COLUMN AND CLADDING OVER ANCHOR BOLTS,
LOWER INTO FINAL POSITION.
9. ADJUST LEVELING NUTS TO POSITION SIGN VERTICALLY. (SEE SHEET 3)
10. FIX THE TWO EXPOSED TOP NUTS.
11. REMOVE LIFTING HOOK EYEBOLT.
12. LIFT CLADDING UP ENOUGH TO SECURE REMAINING TOP NUTS, HOLD
WITH BLOCKING.
13. FIX REMAINING TOP NUTS.
14. REMOVE BLOCKING AND LOWER CLADDING.
15. ALIGN SIGN MOUNTING HOLES AND ELECTRICAL HOLES, AND SECURE
CLADDING WITH SELF DRILLING SCREW THROUGH REMOVABLE
CLADDING AT BOTTOM OF CLADDING.
16. OPEN SIGN CRATING, INSPECT FOR EVIDENT DAMAGE AND NOTIFY
PLASTI-LINE IMMEDIATELY.
17. TEST LIGHT SIGN AND NOTIFY PLASTI-LINE OF ANY PROBLEMS.
18. UNSCREW BOLTS AT TOP OF SIGN TO REMOVE SIGN FACE PANELS,
AND PLACE IN A SAFE UPRIGHT POSITION.
19. NOTE: (ON THE 25' SIGNS .ONLY THE MOUNTING HOLES IN THE MOUNT SOCKETS
NEED TO BE REDRILLED TO 3/4" TO MATCH THE PLATES IN THE
COLUMNS WHERE THE SOCKET IS TO ATTACH)
19o. ATTACH SIGN MOUNT SOCKETS TO COLUMN WITH MOUNTING HARDWARE.
20. ATTACH LOWER SOCKET PLATING TO LOWER SOCKETS OF EACH
SIGN.
21. MOUNT LOWER SIGN, CONNECT ELECTRICAL CABLES AND ATTACH
SOCKET PLATING TO LOWER SIGN SOCKETS.
22. MOUNT UPPER SIGN, CONNECT ELECTRICAL CABLES AND ATTACH
SOCKET PLATING TO UPPER SIGN SOCKETS.
23. CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER TO SIGN AND CHECK FOR WORKING
ORDER.
24. HANG SIGN PANELS IN GUTTERS AT BOTH TOP AND BOTTOM.
FIX SIGN PANELS AT TOP.
25. CLEAN UP JOB SITE OF ALL DEBRIS.
26. GEN. CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS WITHIN 5 FEET
OF BASE OF SIGN STRUCTURE. IF THIS CIRCUIT IS NOT IN PLACE
WHEN SIGN IS INSTALLED, THE ERECTOR SHOULD STUB THE CONDUIT
ABOVE THE GRADE LINE, BESIDE THE FOUNDATION NEAREST BUILDING.
