Relationship to Streets: Signs shall be designed and located so as not to interfere with the
unobstructed clear view of the public right-of-way and nearby traffic regulatory signs of any
pedestrian, bicyclist or motor vehicle driver
Sight Distance: No sign or sign structure shall be placed or constructed so that it impairs the sight
distance requirements at any public or private street intersection or driveway.

SUBJECT: PS 06^W< CASSIA PROFESSIONAL OFFICES
Dear Angela:
Thank you for applying for Land Use Permits in the City of Carlsbad. The Planning Department has
reviewed your Sign Program, application no. PS 06-114, as to its completeness for processing.
There are some revisions to the plans that need to be made before the sign program can be
approved. Please see the list of items below.
1 . On page 2, the black rectangle identifying the wall sign location should actually identify the
"Building" wall sign. An additional symbol should be used to identify the "Tenant" (or
"establishment" as noted in the sign ordinance). Per the Ordinance (Table B), one sign is
allocated to the Building and the Building sign may be up to 50 square feet in area with 24
inch letter height. Each individual tenant or "establishment" may have 5 square feet of sign
per separate building entrance with 6 inch letter height and 9 inch logo. Please note and
revise the sign program accordingly.
2. The above notes are also applicable to the second Cassia Professional Office Building on
page 3 as well.
3. On page 4, please delete the internally illuminated portion of the wall signs as they face
residential property to he west and south.
4. For the monument signs, the entire monument is uses as sign area. Please revise the sign
area to reflect that the allowed area equals the height times the width of the monument, (or
50 square feet as proposed).
5. Please provide the specific location of the monument signs, preferably on the approved sight
plan. The monument signs shall be located outside of any sight distance areas as identified
of the site plan (previously emailed). The detailed locations are need for review by the
Traffic Engineering Department.
Once the above corrections are made, please resubmit three (3) sets of the sign program. A copy of
the red-lined plan is attached for your reference.
