for potential sight distance and visibility issues. Additional information must supplement
this application showing how the proposed signage will not encroach into the public right-
of-way or present a traffic hazard. Page 3 of 4 illustrates an example for what would be

APPLICATIONS
The following example illustrates the information that is required for all pole, monument, and
freestanding sign permit applications. Prior to approval, all such proposed signs must be reviewed
for potential issues by the Transportation Department, which will not allow signs to be approved
over the counter. Additional time will be required for on-site inspection.

Relationship to Streets: Signs shall be designed and located so as not to interfere with the
unobstructed clear view of the public right-of-way and nearby traffic regulatory signs of any
pedestrian, bicyclist or motor vehicle driver.
Sight Distance: No sign or sign structure shall be placed or constructed so that it impairs the sight
distance requirements at any public or private street intersection or driveway.

Attached are our revisions. Sorry for the delay on this. We had some pressing projects over the last
couple weeks that took precedence over this. Anyway, I have a few comments along w/ the
attachments.
1. Originally we asked UltraSigns to price the Ventana sign as "Install to concrete footing with
stucco finish." See attached from original RFP. I'm not sure why we're now having to pay extra
for a concrete footing. Can you look into this and find out why it wasn't priced as spec'd to
begin with? On the attached comments I crossed out the concrete footing and changed it to
aluminum, but that was before I went back to look at what we originally called for and found
that it was concrete-so there shouldn't be an additional cost.
2. Why is there a 5% increase for the reveals?
3. We accept the $400 increase for the Ventana Real Push Thru Lettering.

incorrect reference for the computation of the sign area of a monument sign.

Van -this area is going to be densely covered with landscape the base will not be shown; therefore showing only the
5x1 0 sign area of 50 sq ft. Also, itis not a true 50 sq ft as the panels and center I D make up way less than 50 sq ft of
copy.

The 10 sq ft will be below the street grade and landscape, the only thing seen from the street is the sign from the top of
the base ...
Since the landscaping is super dense and the base will not be seen from the street, can we consider this a
landscape/hardscape feature sign? Section 21.41.070 section 1 will not measure or compute the framework or bracing if
it is categorized as a landscape feature sign. I think with the amount of meticulous planning that Jeff Brusseau has
instilled at Ventana Real, this could be a fair assessment of this approval?

Mariana, The height looks fine. The sign area includes the base so it appears that the sign area is still too big (5 x 10) +
(base = 10.5 x 2/2 = 10.5)= 60.5 sq. ft.

I had my survey crews survey a new location area where the slop is a little less steep. They came back this morning and
this is where we stand. After speaking with you yesterday it made things much clearer since you were honoring the
"average grade" as per code. This made the issue less exasperated and easier to work with on the slope. Thanks for
willingness to work through the issue with me.
As depicted there will be dense landscaping in front of the sign even though the area has decreased. Attached for your
review is the revised drawing, please let me know if this will work for approval so that I can formally submit.
