B. Materials the sign(s) will be constructed of.
C. Source of Illumination.
D. Proposed sign copy.

this application showing how the proposed signage will not encroach into the public right-
of-way or present a traffic hazard. Page 3 of 4 illustrates an example for what would be

APPLICATIONS
The following example illustrates the information that is required for all pole, monument, and
freestanding sign permit applications. Prior to approval, all such proposed signs must be reviewed
for potential issues by the Transportation Department, which will not allow signs to be approved
over the counter. Additional time will be required for on-site inspection.

Relationship to Streets: Signs shall be designed and located so as not to interfere with the
unobstructed clear view of the public right-of-way and nearby traffic regulatory signs of any
pedestrian, bicyclist or motor vehicle driver.
Sight Distance: No sign or sign structure shall be placed or constructed so that it impairs the sight
distance requirements at any public or private street intersection or driveway.

The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) of the Carlsbad Research Center (CRC) has
reviewed the updated plans for your wall sign submitted on behalf of your tenant, MaxLinear,
for your building located at 5966 La Place Ct.
The previously submitted plans for a single wall sign proposed a lettering/logo height which
exceeded the allowable maximum of 36" (lettering/logo height of 57"). The updated plans
show the elimination of the logo part of the sign, and identify a maximum lettering height of
24", which now makes the sign fully consistent with the CRC Design Guidelines. Therefore
these updated plans are considered APPROVED.
You may proceed with the construction and installation of your sign once a sign permit is
obtained from the City of Carlsbad. Please forward a copy of your City sign permit to:

Dear Mr. Zimmett,
The Landlord has reviewed MaxLinear, lnc.'s request to install building top signage in accordance with
Article 23 of the Lease Agreement. The proposed building top sign, attached hereto, is approved as noted
by Landlord with the following conditions:
1. The sign is to be constructed and installed in accordance witli the attached plans and comments.
2. Tenant must obtain approval in advance of installation from the CRC Owners Association and the
City of Carlsbad.
3. Upon expiration or earlier termination of the Lease the sign and all related components are to be
removed and any and all damage to the Building or Premises is to be repaired to the satisfaction
of Landlord at the sole cost of Tenant.
Once obtained, please forward a copy of the Association and City approval to my attention along with a
planned installation schedule.
