Prior to approval, all such proposed signs must be reviewed for potential Issues by the Transportation Department, which wlll not allow signs to be approved over the counter. I:= .. , z 12 "' Acrylic Letters Specifications Part I -General 1.1 Scope A Furnish letters and hardware necessary to install acrylic letters shown on drawings and herein specified. 1.2 Submittals A Manufacturer's illustrated product literature and specifications. B. Installation instructions 1.2 Quality Assurance A. Manufacturer to have a minimum of20 years experience In manufacturing letters. B. All letters to be manufactured by one manufacturer. Gemini manufactures its own High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), which offers good rigidity & tensile strength. It is resistant to chemicals & corrosion and has UV inhibitors to help prevent colors from fading. 2.3 Gemini's own Extruded sheets ofacryllc range from 1/8", 3/16", 3/8", 1/4" and 1/2" thick. Cast sheet is also cut then painted in ¼" and 1" thicknesses. A Laser cutting has an inside diameter of .030". The laser beam used to cut our acrylic letters and logos is actually .010", but a slight radius is given to the inside comers of letters to prevent cracking. B. Router cutting produces a larger radius with a 125" diameter bi. C. Computerized vector files need to be imported and then cleaned to properly cut a good letter. The degree of cleaning is more critical with a laser as the inside diameter will be·.030". D. The largest single piece we can cut is 47-1/2" x 95-1/2". Larger shapes can be cut in pieces. Smaller letters under 24" can be cut out of 1/8" & 3/16" thick material. Larger letters require a thicker gauge. E. Acrylic letters and logos are cut in gauges up to 1" thick in over 32 different colors F. 1000-watt lasers polish the edge return of all letters and logos as they cut through the material, providing a superior finish. G. Impact Strength of 1.2, with a HN Flammability Rating. Vicat Softening Temperature of227°F. 2.4 Mounting Hardware A. Acrylic letters are available or with studs, pads, or a combination of the two for mounting options. B. Standard acrylic letters are mounted with 3/16", I 0-24 aluminum studs. Thin stroked letters with a 6/32 stud. 2.5 Manufacture A Letters shall be made of acrylic. B. Letter shall be ______ letterstyle and shall be ___ inches high, as Indicated on the drawings. C.
