Thank you for your December 16, 1992 regarding temporary directional signage for the
Pea Soup Andersen’s at Palomar Airport Road and Interstate 5. Unfortunately, your
request for freeway oriented banners and a freestanding wood sign cannot be entertained
for two reasons.
There is currently an open code enforcement case file for Pea Soup Andersen’s which
requires a refurbishment of the existing freeway-oriented monument sign and removal of
the freeway oriented wall signage. Despite repeated correspondence, copies attached, no
action has been taken to address these items. No additional signage could possibly be
considered until the code enforcement case is adequately resolved and a comprehensive
sign program for the site is completed and approved.
As you state in your December 16, 1992 letter, other businesses in the vicinity of the
Palomar Airport Road interchange have suffered losses equal to or surpassing those
incurred by Pea Soup Andersen’s. Any consideration for temporary directional signage
should include all affected businesses, not just the hotel and restaurant.
It is strongly recommended that you pursue the tasks required by the current code
enforcement action as quickly as possible. A copy of this correspondence is being
forwarded to the Code Enforcement division and the City Attorney’s office. Please feel free
