Roxanne Rusing 4215 Harrison Street Carlsbad, CA 92008 Dear Ms. Rusing: During the meeting we held on November 18, 1991 between you, Marty Orenyak and I, you were informed that any signage proposed on the properties must conform with the requirements of Chapter 21.41 titled “Signs” of the Carlsbad Zoning Ordinance. Because your business is located in a Residential-Tourist Zone, 20 square feet of signage is permitted per lot. Currently, the business operates on five parcels of land giving a total of 100 square feet of allowable signage. This total signage may be used to create one 100 square foot sign or may be divided into several signs totaling 100 square feet. You were also informed that no sign is permitted to be placed or supported on a building‘s rooftop, nor extend above the roof line. The sign must be mounted to the building‘s wall and cannot extend beyond the perimeters of such wall. The building(s) currently on site may need to be restructured in order to accommodate the above requirement depending on the size and placement of the proposed sign. As agreed during our meeting, the City will permit a one year extension on the amortization of your signs, beginning January 1, 1992. Please be advised that you will be required to obtain all required sign permits and building permits, as well as complete modification of the existing signs or installation of a new conforming sign, prior to January 1,1993. If there is a failure to comply within the one year period, the City has authority to begin administrative abatement and/or initiate legal action. In order to obtain approval for a sign permit, three copies of a design incorporating the above comments needs to be submitted to David Rick’s attention in the Planning Department. This includes three copies of a site plan, building elevations with sign placement, materials, and dimensions, and the location and square footage of any existing permitted signs. 2075 Las Palmas Drive - Carlsbad, California 92009-1 576 - (61 9) 438-1 161 L d ~~ ~ ROXANNE RUSING DECEMBER 16,1991 PAGE TWO PS 91-63 - SNUG HARBOR If you have any questions, please contact either me or David Rick, your project planner at (619) 438-1161, extension 4328.
