Dear Bill: Thank you for submitting the plans for the proposed Jazzercise Center/Roosevelt Center Monument Sign. The proposed plans were reviewed by Redevelopment, Planning and Engineering. The following issues were raised as concerns which will need to be resolved prior to processing a permit for the proposed monument signs (2): Need to calculate amount of existing signage on the buildings/suites at this time. The total amount of signage allowed for a projectlbuilding is .6 of a square foot of a building's linear foot street frontage. The amount of signage allowed'can be calculated by taking the building's linear foot street frontage and multiplying it by a maximum constant 12 feet vertical height and then multiplying that number by 5%. The resulting number equals the total permitted square footage for sign area. If this number is less than the total amount of existing square footage of signage, the difference may be provided in the proposed monument sign. Current policy indicates that no more than four (4) tenants are to be advertised on monument signs for shopping centers. In addition to the tenants, the sign should identify the building (as you did) and the address (need to provide). We will continue to discuss the policy regarding the total number of allowed tenants to be advertised internally to determine whether or not we can allow greater than the number (4) noted. Engineering staff will need to conduct additional review of the placement of the signs to ensure that there is no sight distance problem. If the above issues are addressed satisfactorily, there will be no anticipated problems with approving the monument sign(s) as proposed. Once the calculation of the existing signage and allowed signage is complete, you may submit an application for a sign permit (see attached). 2965 Roosevelt St., Ste.
