RE: TEXACO SIGN PF.RMlT PS 94-26
Dear Ms. Tague:
I have reviewed the application for a sign permit for the Texaco service station located at
665 Palomar Airport Road. The plan submitted does not reflect what is actually on the
site. The pole sign is a single pole and the dimensions of the sign does not appear correct.
The monument sign is shown to encroach into the public Right-of-way but is not within
the Right-of-way. To determine the existing sign allowance, provide the square footage of
the existing "Service Center" and "Food Mart" signs. Please have the exhibits changed to
reflect the existing conditions.
The sign area for freeway service facilities is based on one square foot of signage for each
lineal foot of frontage of the building. This building is shown to have approximately ninety feet of frontage which will allow for ninety feet of signage for the site. Since the sites
existing signage exceeds the allowable square footage, the square footage of the existing
non-confonning signage will then determine the amount of signage to be allowed for the
site. No new additional signage will be allowed for the site.
Since the site has both a pole sign and a monument sign, the monument sign should not
exceed sixteen square feet of sign area and be no taller than six feet. The proposed
monument sign exceeds these limits. The existing monument sign would be allowed to
rem& zt its present locarion cd size.
It appears that the canopy signage as well as the new signage for the monument will not
be approved because they will exceed the sign allowance for the site. The existing "Service
Center" and "Food Mart" signs will be allowed to remain.
If you have any questions regarding the above, please call me at 438-1161 extension 4325.
Sincerely,
VAN LYNh
