FARADAY AVENUE/EL CAMINO REAL SIGN PERMIT (PS 95-52)
We have completed our review of Sign Permit PS 95-52. The southeast corner of the Faraday
Avenue/El Camino Real intersection is open and visible in all directions. The proposed
monument sign encroaches into public right-of-way and is considered a hazard to pedestrian and
vehicle visibility. We cannot recommend approval of PS 95-52.
An acceptable area for signs would be southeast of our typical comer cut-off. Measure along
curb face, 25’ from the beginning of curb return on El Camino Real and 25’ from the beginning
of curb return on Faraday Avenue. Connect these two measured points to a comer triangle as
shown on the attached plat. A sign could be located behind, southeast of this corner cut-off.
If you look at the other three corners of Faraday Avenue/El Camino Real, you will see exceptional
visibility and no encroachment into this corner triangle. In fact, the limits exceed our minimum
standards. This is what we would like to maintain.
If you have any questions, give me a call at extension 4353.
