Your application to replace the existing monument sign has been approved, in accordance to the 1988 Village Design Manual. However, the City would like to make you aware of changes related to signage within the new VUlage Redevelopment Master Plan and Design Manual. In January 1996, the City Council approved a new Village Redevelopment Master Plan and Design Manual. However, the Califomia Coastal Commission has not yet considered this Master Plan. Therefore, the Master Plan is in effect for the Village Redevelopment area, with the exception of those properties within the Coastal Zone. As stated in the City's Village Master Plan, the maxmium sign height should not exceed sixty (60) inches including any sign base. Furthermore, the Master Plan also states that letter heights should not exceed 12 inches and sign material shall be consistent with the stmcture and use. Once the Master Plan is effective within the Coastal Zone, your monument sign would be considered nonconforming and any changes to such signage would not be allowed until signage has been brought into conformance with the Village Master Plan and Design Manual. For your information, I have attached a copy of the applicable sign guidelines. If you have any questions regarding the City's sign guidelines or this permit, please contact Leilani Hines at 434-2818. Sincerely, . 7 LEILANI A.
