SUBJECT: PS 97-80; GRUBB & ELLIS
Dear Mike:
Thank you for applying with the City of Carlsbad to amend the Sign Program for
Carlsbad Commercial Center. After careful review, your application for amending the
Sign Program has been denied. The Sign Program for Carlsbad Commercial Center
which allows for freeway signage (Sign Type A) is inconsistent with the City’s Sign
Ordinance (Chapter 21.41 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code) and was originally approved
in error.
It is the position of the City to adhere strictly to the adopted Sign Ordinance. Although
the existing Sign Program for Carlsbad Commercial Center allows for freeway signage,
it is our intention not to intensify or exacerbate a situation which already exists
regarding an approved sign program which is inconsistent with the City’s Sign
Ordinance. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
