Dear Mr. Al-mstrong:
The sign program application that has been submitted can be approved with the sign areas and sign types
proposed. However, there are a couple of items that need to be addressed on the text of the sign program
prior to the approval. Please make the following changes to the text of the sign program:
I. Please change the total sign allowance from 990 square feet to 200 square feet. This is regulated
by the sign criteria in the Carlsbad Airport Center Specific Plan (SP 181(A)).
2. Please add a reference to the exhibit which shows the approved locations of the approved signs,
e.g. “See exhibit “A” for the approved size and locations of signs.”
3. Add an item that states that there shall not be more than three wall signs for the site. The three
signs are allowed because there are three street frontages.
Please keep in mind that the sign program is to establish the allowed sign type, location and size for the
life of the building. The program should be specific enough to regulate the placement and size of future
signs yet flexible enough as to not need an amendment every time a different sign is proposed.
