Remove transformer cover. Remove sdected knockouts from the tr~nsformer's primary and secondary wiring compartments for conduit connections. Run the,supply wires through conduit into the transformer primary wiring carnpartmonh~,id connect canduit to selected 'primary wiring compartment knockout locations. Connect the hot (black 9 120 volt or red - 277 volt) and neutral (white) input voltage wires t6,the corresponding transformer wires. Connect the ground (green) wire to the identified "Servlce Ground" terminal. Run GTO wires from each neon tubing el8ctrode through separate conduit into the transfaher secondary wiring compartment. Connect conduit to selected secondary wiring compartment knockouts. Strjp GTO wire and connect to the transformer's secondary high voltage bushings. Do not strip GTO wire more than IW from ttie bushing stud. Securely tighten the bakelite knobs. Repiace, transformer cover. ~ Note: + If utilizing the Midpa-nt Return Wiring inst?llation method the return wires (GTO in conduit) + After a fault, transformer automatically attempts to reset three (3) times within ten (IO) seconds. be connected to the identified transformer Midpoint Return terminal. DO NOT GROUND. TFlOUBLESHOOTlNG a tripped PKAPNQ SmiWf Series transformer! + Insure that the hot and neutral input wires are Connected properly and are not reversed. Black and red wires should be hot, white wires should be neutral. Verify that the service ground wire is actually grounded and is connected to the transformer's identified ground terminal. Make sure that the identified Midpoint Return termind is + If the sign is midpoint wired, make sure that the midpoint of the sign is connected only to the identified Midpoint Return terminal. Do not confuse the grounded terminal in the pfirnary wiring compartment with the Midpoint Return terminal in the secondary wiring compartment.
