A Carlsbad, CA 92009 Scott Donnell, Associate Planner Sign Permit #PS99-75 -- Proposed wall and directional signs at 6060 Avenida Encinas, Ste A As we discussed today about your sign application submitted August 10, the total allowable sign area is based on the frontage of your store. It is figured based on a rate of 1.5 square feet of sign to every 1 lineal foot of store frontage. Since suite A is 50 feet wide, the total sign area you may have is 75 s.f. Your plans propose a 5 s.f. directional sign and an 83.7 s.f. wall sign (I am not counting your building address as part of the sign.). If you eliminate “accessories” from your wall sign as you have suggested, your total sign area will be under 75 s.f. To get approval, please change the enclosed plans and application as follows: 1. Revise the second page of the application to show the new sign sizes; 2. Cross-out or delete “accessories” on the plan; 3. Add a note to the site plan so it is clear the directional sign is on the same property as Chuck’s Tire. In addition, since we spoke, I have learned that only one freestanding sign is allowed per property. Since your proposed directional sign would be the only freestanding sign allowed on the property, the other tenant in suite B could not also have one. To ensure the property owner is aware of this limitation, please have him sign the enclosed application. I will give a copy of this memo to Code Enforcement Officer Ed Davis so he is aware of the status of your application. Thank you.
