PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT/CONDOMINIUM
RESIDENTIAL ADDITION PERMIT
A Planned Unit Development (PUD) Residential Addition Permit is an administrative
permit to allow a property owner of an existing single-family or duplex Planned Unit
Development or Condominium unit to construct additional improvements (garage,
workshop, porte cochere, guesthouse, room addition or other habitable structure). This
amendment must be publicly noticed and requires Planning Director approval.
Please submit the required items listed below:

A completed Land Use Review Application Form.
A completed Project Description Form.
A completed Disclosure Statement.
Four sets of the site plan and elevatio is, showing all property lines, setbacks,
building distances from property lines and building heights.
A letter of approval from the applicable Home Owner's Association.
One set of adhesive mailing labels and radius map for all properties within a 100'
radius of the site (see directions below).
See latest fee schedule for application fee.
Payment of current First Class Postage rate for each mailing label you submit.
How To Prepare Mailing Labels:
Labels must be typewritten on plain, white adhesive labels and include the names and
addresses of all property owners within a 1ob' radius of the subject property. No parcel
numbers should appear on the labels. Please follow the exact format shown below,
using all capital letters, left justified, and no punctuation when preparing labels:

Also include a radius map, indicating all properties which you have provided mailing
labels for. You may utilize the Assessor's Parcel Maps available at the City of Carlsbad
to create this map.
Processing Time:
Processing times can vary greatly depending on the issues raised and the
completeness and clarity of your submittal package. The Planning Director shall make
his decision no sooner than 15 days after the City has mailed the property owner
notices. The total average processing time is 30-45 days from the date of submittal.
