I have enclosed a receipt showing payment of $30.00 for the processing of an
Outdoor Business Display Permit in conjunction with the above referenced
project. The application number for the project is RPOO-05.
In the next 30 days, City staff will review the application and notify you in writing
of any additional information needed to complete the application or issues of

Re: Outdoor Business Display for Janika Designs - 2969 State Street
Thank you for submitting your application for an outdoor business display permit.
Following the review of your application, staff has determined that additional
information is needed before the permit can be issued.
First, please clarify if you are requesting the display of three mannequins or one
rolling clothing rack. Also, please provide the dimensions of the mannequins. If
more than one item is displayed, the items must be placed together in a single
location in front of, and adjacent to, the subject business building. In accordance
with the outdoor business display regulations, the display items may not be
spread out along the entire front of the building. The combination of the various
business items must fit into an "imaginary box" that measures 3' wide, 6' long,
and 5' high.
Secondly, please provide proof of required insurance to the Carlsbad
Redevelopment Agency. Insurance in the amount of $1 million, naming the Citv
of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agencv as additionally insured, is
required for all business displays within the public right-of-way. Your insurance
provider can send proof ofthe required insurance directly to us.
If you are comfortable providing a new site plan showing the requested
information please do so. However, I will be happy to meet with you to
personally assist in modifying your application. Please contact my office at 760-

Dear Sir or Madam:
Our records indicate that you were issued Permit #00-05 for an Outdoor Display that is
located in the public right-of-way. A requirement of the permit is that the City of
Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency be listed as Additional Insured on
your insurance policy. The most recent certificate of insurance on file expires or expired
on 05/01/2001. If the certificate of insurance on file has not yet expired, please ask your
insurance provider to ensure that a new certificate is sent to us upon renewal. If there is
no certificate of insurance on file or if it has expired, please submit a current certificate of
insurance within ten davs (10). If a current certificate of insurance is not received by the
Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency, your permit may be revoked and/or the Outdoor
Display may be confiscated by Code Enforcement.

Re: Approval of Outdoor Display Permit
Dear Janika:
Thank you for submitting your application for an Outdoor Display Permit. Your
application has been approved. Attached is a copy of the approved permit for your
records. Please note, the approved permit allows an outdoor display as described in
the attached permit and depicted on the corresponding site plan.
The attached permit allows you to retain your outdoor display for; 1) as long as the
Housing and Redevelopment Commission allows outdoor displays to remain, 2) as long
as the outdoor display continues to meet the standards outlined within the attached
Outdoor Business Dispiay - Location and Development Criteria, and 3) as long as the
outdoor display is consistent with this permit approval. A valid Certificate of Insurance
is required for as long as the A-Frame sign continues to be placed within the public
right-of-way. Most importantly, your outdoor display must be placed within the 3' x 6'
area as shown on the attached site plan in order to meet the City's requirements for
outdoor displays.
