Based on prior conversations with you it is our understanding that the wall sign facing Carisbad Blvd. is not internally illuminated even though it appears there is an old electrical connection tied to it. Please keep in mind that this sign may not be internally illuminated at any time in the future as it would be inconsistent with the Village sign regulations and therefore invalidate the permit for the A-Frame sign. We have confirmed that the remaining signage on your building meets the Village Redevelopment Area sign standards. Therefore, having received all required documents your application has been approved. Attached is a copy of the approved Sidewalk Sign Permit for your records. The attached permit allows you to retain your sign for; 1) as long as the Housing and Redevelopment Commission allows sidewalk signs to remain, 2) as long as the sign continues to meet the standards outlined within the Carisbad Village Master Plan and Design Manual, and 3) as long as the sign is consistent with this permit approval. It is important to note that the Housing and Redevelopment Commission will complete an annual review of the sidewalk sign regulations to determine their continued applicability. A valid Certificate of Insurance is required for as long as the A-Frame sign continues to be placed within the public right-of-way. Most importantly, the sign must be placed as shown on the approved site plan. If you should have any questions regarding the information contained in this letter, please call me at (760) 434-2813.
