C. c/o Winners Circle Resorts 5900 Pasteur Ct #200 Carlsbad Ca 92008 Subject: Carlsbad Oceanside Art League (COAL) Art Mart Dear Mr. Chapin: As we discussed recently, I am sending you a new application for the Carlsbad Oceanside Art League (COAL) Art Mart. Previously, we had anticipated that the Art Mart would obtain a separate redevelopment permit for their weekly event. However, after discussing the matter with our City Attorney, we have decided that it will be necessary to modify the existing redevelopment permit for the Carlsbad Inn. Attached, please find a new application for the project. As you will note, we have provided some of the information needed for the application on your behalf. Please review the supplied information for accuracy. In addition, a new Disclosure Statement will be needed. Also, the Project Description/Explanation should be revised to reflect that the Carlsbad Inn is requesting to amend the existing redevelopment permit to allow forthe Art Mart. At your earliest convenience, please re-submit the attached application to the Housing and Redeyelopment Department. If you have any questions about the above or attached information, please call me at 760.434.2817. Sincerely, iraig D. PO Box 11 Oceanside, CA 92056 Carlsbad, CA 92018 RE: Weekend Outdoor Art Displays at Carlsbad Village Inn Dear Mr. Humphrey: It has come to our attention that the Outdoor Art Displays that your organization puts outside the Carlsbad Village Inn on a weekly basis for sales to the general public does not have the proper permits to continue this activity. Upon researching the ability to allow this activity to continue, we have come up with the following options: 1. Move the display into the interior of the Carlsbad Village Inn facility (either inside the building or on the back lawn) without a permit. 2. Obtain a Minor Special Event Permit on private property, which will allow the event to occur no more than 4 times per year. This permit requires no fee, only a letter addressed to the Housing and Redevelopment Director explaining the event. 3. Obtain a Minor Redevelopment Permit to continue the event on a weekly basis on the front lawn on private property (at least 13 feet in from the curb - off of the public right-of-way) in front of the Carlsbad Village Inn. This permit involves total fees of $1,820 and completing the attached permit application for submission to the Housing and Redevelopment Department. If your organization wishes to continue operating the event on a weekly basis on private property in front of the Carlsbad Village Inn, you must complete the Minor Redevelopment Permit application and submit it along with the permit fee to the City of Carlsbad Housing and Redevelopment Department at 2965 Roosevelt Street, Carlsbad, CA 92008, no later than 30 days from the date of this letter. Please inform us within the next 30 days of your intentions. Please call me at (760) 434-2812 if I can be of assistance or if you have questions regarding this correspondence.
