Re: Approval of Sidewalk Sign Permit
Dear Donna:
Thank you for submitting your application for a Sidewalk Sign Permit. Having received all
required documents your application has been approved. Attached is a copy of the approved
Sidewalk Sign Permit for your records.
The attached permit allows you to retain your sign for; 1) as long as the Housing and
Redevelopment Commission allows sidewalk signs to remain, 2) as long as the sign continues
to meet the standards outlined within the Carlsbad Village Master Plan and Design Manual, and
3) as long as the sign is consistent with this permit approval. It is important to note that the
Housing and Redevelopment Commission will complete an annual review of the sidewalk sign
regulations to determine their continued applicability. A valid Certificate of Insurance is required
for the duration of time the A-Frame sign continues to be placed within the public right-of-way.
Most importantly, the sign must be placed as shown on the approved site plan.
If you should have any questions regarding the information contained in this letter, please call
me at (760) 434-2813.
Sincerely,
SBAD

Re: Sidewalk Sign Permit - Donnika's Fashions, 531 Carlsbad Village Dr
Dear Donna:
Thank you for submitting your application for a Sidewalk Sign Permit for the above
referenced property. In order to approve the sign permit some additional information is
needed. First, you must acquire a separate sign permit for the signage on the building.
The standard for wall signs is one square foot of signage per linear foot of building frontage.
I have enclosed a sign permit application for your use. Please complete as much of the
application as you can and submit it to my office with a plan showing the dimensions of the
wall sign. My office must approve the sign permit before submitting it to the City of
Carlsbad Planning Department. Both approvals can be done at the front counter. You may
want to call my office before you come in to check on my availability.
Secondly, in order to complete the application for the sidewalk sign the proper Certificate of
Insurance must be on record. The Certificate of Insurance that you submitted with your
application shows the proper amount of insurance coverage, however, it fails to show the
City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency as additional insured. Please
contact your insurance carrier and have them make the necessary change and fon/vard a
copy of the certificate to my office.
Once these items are received the sidewalk sign permit will be approved. A copy of the
approved permit will be forwarded to you for your records. If you have any questions
regarding the information contained in this letter, please contact me at 760-434-2813.
