Re: Sprint Wireless Facility @ the Carlsbad Inn - 3001 Carlsbad Blvd.
Dear Robert:
On November 24, 2003, the Housing and Redevelopment Director conditionally
approved Administrative Redevelopment Permit No. RP 03-15 and Coastal
Development Permit No. CDP 03-39 for property located at 3001 Carlsbad Blvd. The
decision of the Housing and Redevelopment Director is subject to a ten (10) day appeal
period. The appeal period has elapsed and no appeals were filed. Attached is a copy
of the approved permit authorizing the installation of an unmanned telecommunications
facility on the most northeasterly building of the Carlsbad Inn property. Please review
all conditions carefully. Violation of the conditions could result in revocation of this
permit. Before initiating construction of the project you must complete the process to
obtain the appropriate building permits.

Re: Sprint Wireless Facility @ the Carlsbad Inn - 3001 Carlsbad Blvd.
Dear Robert:
Your Administrative Redevelopment Permit (application no. RP03-15) and Coastal
Development Permit (application no. CDP03-39) have been received and reviewed by
the Housing and Redevelopment Department together with other appropriate City
departments. It has been determined that the applications are complete and suitable
for final processing.
The first of two 10-day public notices was mailed out today, Friday, November 7, 2003.
Unless additional information is presented to staff which would preclude approval of the
project, the Housing and Redevelopment Director intends to approve the request for
installation of the cellular facility and associated antennas at Carlsbad Inn located at
3001 Carlsbad Blvd., as shown on the plans received by the Housing and
Redevelopment Department on October 6, 2003. The decision of the Housing and
Redevelopment Director is subject to a 10-day appeal period (the second public notice).
Final approval of the project does not occur until the appeal period expires. Official
notice will be sent to you upon final approval of the project.
If you have any questions regarding the information contained in this letter, please
contact my office at (760) 434-2813.

Applicant:
Sprint Wireless Facility
RP 03-15
E3 Development Solutions for Sprint PCS
Brief Description of Proposal: The design consists of two panel antennas hidden behind two
dormer windows constructed to match existing dormer windows on the building. One antenna
will be mounted within each dormer window and both antennas will be screened by RF
transparent material that will mimic the design, style, and materials of existing dormers on the
building. The equipment will be enclosed within the buildings attic space and, thus, be screened
from public view. Sprint proposes a false ceiling within the attic space to conceal the coax run.
The entire installation will total approximately 365 square feet.
