Re: Sign Permit Application
Dear Business Owner:
In reviewing the sign permit application for O'SuIlivan's Irish Pub & Restaurant,
staff has found that the proposed pole sign revisions do not meet the current
Village Sign Guidelines for pole signs. The subject sign is classified as a pole
sign following the definition provided in the Master Plan:
"Pole signs shall be defined as a sign that is free standing, greater
than five feet in height, and wholly supported by one or more
vertical supports in the ground. The sign may or may not be an
integral part of one or more buildings."
The Carlsbad Village Redevelopment Master Plan dictates that when there is a
change is business, in this case a change in ownership, mandatory conformance
with the current sign standards is required. The current standards for pole signs
state that a pole sign shall "in no circumstances be taller than 10 feet in height
from ground to top of sign." We apologize for any inconvenience this may
create, but staff cannot approve your sign permit application until this standard is
met.
Please contact the Housing and Redevelopment Department for additional
options regarding your signage.
If you have any questions regarding the information contained in this letter,
