Dear Kim: While reviewing your request for additional awnings to be placed on the existing flower stand at 3126V2 Carlsbad Boulevard, the Redevelopment staff came across the attached correspondence, dated October 25, 1994. The letter was addressed to a previous owner of the flower stand who had made a similar request for additional awnings. While the request was granted, it doesn't appear the new awnings were ever added to the building. Since 1994, there have been no regulatory modifications which would warrant a change to the Housing and Redevelopment Department's position. Therefore, the awnings, as depicted in the attached diagram, may be added to the structure without the need for a new redevelopment permit or an amendment to the existing redevelopment/coastal development permit. Please note, the installation of the new awnings may still require the issuance of a building permit. Please contact the City of Carlsbad Building Department at 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad so that they can make a determination as to the need for building permits. It has been a pleasure working with you. If you have any questions pertaining to the enclosed documents or require additional information, please contact me at (760) 434-2813. Sincere WT LORI H.
