THANK YOU COMMENTS: — PLANS ATTACHED FRM0020 10/91 July 21, 1992 TO: DAVID RICK, PLANNING DEPARTMENT FROM: Karen Sauer, Housing & Redevelopment Department LAGUNA DRIVE (NORTH) SIDEWALK PROJECT-COMMENTS Thank you tor forwarding the plans for the Laguna Drive sidewalk project to the Housing & Redevelopment Department for comments. The north side of Laguna Drive is not included in the Village Redevelopment Area boundaries however, this project appears to be within the Local Coastal Zone. I wouid like to share several ideas with you before this project begins. * The Redevelopment Agency is supportive of public improvements that are located within the Village Redevelopment Area as well as projects that indirectly benefit the local merchants, commercial and residential property owners. This project will provide for safer access to and from the northern portion of the Redevelopment Area. <t The plans indicate that several items may need to be removed or relocated (trees, planters, fences, walls). You may want to include in the contract a clause that requires replacement or satisfactory relocation of the items. » It may be helpful to meet with the adjacent commercial and residential property owners to discuss the plans and determine what issues might arise if/when the trees, planters, fences, walls are removed or relocated. <f It would be helpful to request that the contractor provide prior written notification for the adjacent commercial and residential property owners as well as merchants on Laguna Drive. Information about the project, the construction schedule and a telephone contact would be of interest to those in the area. » It also occurs to me that if the utility undergrounding project that is planned for Laguna Drive includes this same area, that the construction schedules be coordinated so as to inconvenience the public for as little time as possible. Please let me know when this project is anticipated to be under construction and I will make an announcement at the Village Merchants Association Meeting.
