As required by the Carlsbad Village Master Pian, applications for a Sidewalk Sign Permit must provide an original signed insurarice certificate naming the City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency as additionally insured. Because staff had not received, until recently, the necessary insurance information, no formal action had been taken on the application. On August 1, 1997, the Redevelopment Department received the required insurance information. However, upon review of the insurance certificate, it was discovered that the liability coverage amount is $300,000. The City's liability requirement is $1 million. Therefore, in order maintain your existing Sidewalk Sign, please provide a revised insurance certificate in the amount of $1 million to this office by September 10,1997. Once this information has been received, staff can then approve your application. If you are unable to provide the above requested information by September 10, please contact me as soon as possible. Ifthe deadline is not met, the existing sign will be determined to be non-permitted. All non-permitted signs are subject removal without further notification. Your application has been approved. Attached is a copy of the approved Sidewalk Sign Permit for your records. The attached permit allows you to retain your sign for, 1) as long as the Housing and Redevelopment Commission allows sidewalk signs to remain, 2) as long as the sign continues to meet the standards outiined within the Carlsbad Village Master Plan and Design Manual, and 3) as long as the sign is consistent with this permit approval. It is important to note that the Housing and Redevelopment Commission will complete an aimual review of the sidewalk sign regulations to determine their continued applicability.
