Subject: Application for Sidewalk Sign
Dear Ms. Coats:
Thank you for submitting your application for a Sidewalk Sign Permit. The Carlsbad
Village Redevelopment Master Plan allows each business one freestanding sidewalk sign.
The maximum size of each sign is five (5) feet in height by three (3) feet in width.
A sidewalk sign can only be permitted when all existing business signage is in
conformance with the Master Plan.
The Redevelopment Agency has received two separate Sidewalk Sign Permit applications
for your business. After reviewing the applications, it appears that the business has three
freestanding signs. Based upon the above criteria, either the "Real Estate Info" sign or
the "Open" sign could be approved at this time. However, the wheel mounted sign does
not meet the size criteria and therefore cannot be approved.
Prior to staff approving your application, the following information will be need to be
submitted to the Redevelopment Agency:
1. Item No. 4 of the Application, "Location/Placement of Proposed
Sidewalk/Freestanding Sign" was not completed. This information is needed
to determine where the sign wdll be placed each business day. Enclosed,
please find the original application. Please provide the information requested
in Section 4 and retum the application as soon as possible.
2. As stated above, only one sidewalk sign may be approved. Please indicate on
the site plan the sign for which you are seeking approval.
3. Item No. 5 of the Application, "Existing Signage for Building/Business was
not completed. This information is needed to determine that the existing
signage is consistent with the Master Plan. Please provide the information
requested in Section 5.
