Subject: Violation of Sidewalk Sign Permit
Dear Ms. Caleca:
Recently, the Housing and Redevelopment Department approved your application for a
Sidewalk Sign Permit. However, it has come to staffs attention that the sign currently
being displayed is in violation of the approved permit.
First, the sign being displayed is not the sign that was approved as part of the approved
permit. Therefore, if you wish to continue to display the sign, please submit an
application to amend the original permit approval. Second, the sign is being placed on
the public sidewalk. As you may be aware, the Carlsbad Village Master Plan prohibits
signs that are placed in such a way as to obstruct access to a public sidewalk. Thus, you
will need to immediately remove the sign from the public sidewalk as required by both
your approved permit and the Master Plan.
Due to the above mentioned violatipns, the sign is subject to immediate removal without
further notice. It is recommended that you remove the sign immediately while processing
a permit amendment. If you have any questions about the above information, please call
me at (760) 434-2817.
Sincerely,
Craig
