Schmidt 1650 Chestnut Carlsbad CA, 92008 SUBJECT: SDU 02-22 - SCHMIDT/PARK SECOND DWELLING UNIT Thank you for applying for Land Use Permits in the City of Carlsbad. The Planning Department has reviewed your Second Dwelling Unit, application no. SDU 02-22, as to its completeness for processing. The application is complete, as submitted. Although the initial processing of your application may have already begun, the technical acceptance date is acknowledged by the date of this communication. The City may, in the course of processing the application, request that you clarify, amplify, correct, or otherwise, supplement the basic information required for the application. In addition, you should also be aware that various design issues do exist. Please see the attached list of issues of concern. These issues must be addressed before this application can be scheduled for a hearing. The Planning Department will begin processing your application as of the date of this communication. One of the conditions of approval for a Second Dwelling Unit is that the unit be architecturally compatible with the main dwelling in terms of appearance, materials and finished quality. The unit as it is currently designed does not meet the criteria for architectural compatibility. The roof design of the proposed second dwelling unit differs markedly from the main dwelling and the construction materials proposed are not similar to those of the primary unit. Please redesign the unit to be architecturally similar to the main dwelling. 2. The plans currently label the detached structure as " Exist. Office ". However in the " Area Summary ", the detached structure is labeled as a bedroom. Please correct this issue prior to re-submittal of the plans.
