On Monday, October 31, 1994, I went to your office to discuss the above mentioned issue. Because you were on vacation I spoke with Anne Fiyscnq, who displayed the propcsed "Czc1er Second Ur,itl* to me. I am in opposition to granting a permit for the following reasons: Building the "Casler Second Unit" 20 feet from the West property line is not fair to the Polly Lane residences adjoining it. The "difference in elevations" will allow occupants of the "Casler Second Unit" to look directly down into the backyards and windows of the Polly Lane residences. Most people prefer to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a Itprivatel1 backyard. I ask you a simple question. If you lived in one of the adjoining Polly Lane homes with the proposed Casler Unit, would you enjoy the peace and tranquility of your backyard? I doubt it very much. I believe building the "Casler Second Unit" as proposed will accomplish two things. It will increase the value of the Casler property and decrease the value of adjoining property. Ultimately, the Polly Lane properties will be less marketable to sell. r-1). last objection is that second dwellings such as these can and will be used as t1rentals88 , not granny flats. I can't speak for other Polly Lane residents, but when I purchased my home, I purposely chose an area composed of single family residences. I would not want rentals placed 20 feet from my backyard. i am quite aware of Mrs. Casler's political past and have no doubt she and her husband are fine people. However, the approval of this permit will adversely affect their neighbors. If the llCasler Second Unit" is to be approved it should be relocated about 80 feet east and placed in line with the Casler Main House. There appears to be plenty or room based on the plot plan I viewed at your office. Sincerely, Robert W. Teich 3840 Polly Lane cc: Michael Holzmiller
