RE: Current Insurance Certificate for an A-Frame Sign and Outdoor Display
Dear Mr. Hurwitz:
Our records indicate that you were issued Permits #97-03 and 02-15 for an A-Frame sign
and an Outdoor Display that is located within the public right-of-way. An ongoing
requirement of the permit is that you maintain a valid certificate of insurance for the
items within the public right-of-way naming the City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad
Redevelopment Agency as additional insured.
The certificate of insurance on file expires on July 8, 2002. Therefore, the A-Frame sign
and the Outdoor Display must be removed from the public right-of-way once the
certificate of insurance expires. If proof of current insurance coverage has not been
received or if the items have not been removed from the public right-of-wav within 10
business davs of the date of the certificate of insurance expiration, the items mav be
summarilv removed without further notice from the Citv and disposed of as surplus
propertv.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. If you need further information or
need assistance, please give me a call at (760) 434-2813.
Sincerely.

Dear Sir or Madam:
Our records indicate that you were issued Permit #97-03 for an A-Frame Sign that is
located in the public right-of-way. A requirement of the permit is that the City of
Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency be listed as Additional Insured on
your insurance policy. The most recent certificate of insurance on file expires or expired
on 07/08/2002. If the certificate of insurance on file has not yet expired, please ask your
insurance provider to ensure that a new certificate is sent to us upon renewal. If there is
no certificate of insurance on file or if it has expired, please submit a current certificate of
insurance within ten davs (10). If a current certificate of insurance is not received by the
Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency, your permit may be revoked and/or the A-Frame Sign
may be confiscated by Code Enforcement.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. If you need further information or
need assistance, please give me a call at (760) 434-2812.
Sincerely

Subject: Approval of Sidewalk Sign Permit
Dear Mr. Hunvitz
Thank you for submitting your application for a Sidewalk Sign Permit. Your application
has been approved. Attached is a copy of the approved Sidewalk Sign Permit for your
records.
The attached permit allows you to retain your sign for, 1) as long as the Housing and
Redevelopment Commission allows sidewalk signs to remain, 2) as long as the sign
continues to meet the standards outlined within the Carlsbad Village Master Plan and
Design Manual, and 3) as long as the sign is consistent with this permit approval. It is
important to note that the Housing and Redevelopment Commission will complete an
annual review of the sidewalk sign regulations to determine their continued applicability.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please
contact me at (619) 434-2810.
Sincerely,
—^

RE: A-FRAME SIGN FOR BUSBVESS (ROSEBORO HOUSE) LOCATED AT
2971 STATE STREET
Dear Mr. Hurwitz:
Thank you for your application for a permit for an A-Frame Sign at your business located at
2971 State Street. As I discussed with Barbara Hurwitz several weeks ago and as indicated in
the application, your current A-Frame Sign does not meet the size standards set forth by the City
Council. The sign exceeds the height limit by one (1) foot.
Although the sign does not meet the standards, we are willing to allow your continued use of
the sign until January 1, 1995 if it is located immediately adjacent to your building. It should
not be placed at or near the curb or in the sidewalk area. We would like to make sure that the
sign does not create an obstruction due to its height.
If you would like to place an A-Frame sign at or near the sidewalk curb, then you will be
required to reduce the size of your A-Frame to meet the standards; this would require you to
reduce the height by one (1) foot.
As stated above, your application for an A-Frame Sign has been conditionally approved.
Attached is a copy of your approved application for your records. If you have any questions
and/or comments regarding this correspondence or your sign, please contact me after December
27, 1993 at 434-2935.
Sincerely,
