RE: Current Insurance Certificate for an A-Frame Sign
Dear Eddy Shakarjian:
Our records indicate that you were issued Permit #97-05 for an A-Frame sign that is
located within the public right-of-way. An ongoing requirement of the permit is that you
maintain a valid certificate of insurance for the items within the public right-of-way
naming the City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency as additional
insured.
The certificate of insurance on file expires on June 16, 2002. Therefore, the A-Frame
sign must be removed from the public right-of-way once the certificate of insurance
expires. If proof of current insurance coverage has not been received or if the items have
not been removed from the public right-of-wav within 10 business davs of the date of the
certificate of insurance expiration, the items mav be summarilv removed without further
notice from the City and disposed of as surplus propertv.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. If you need further information or
need assistance, please give me a call at (760) 434-2813.

Dear Mr. Shakarjian:
Violation of Sidewalk Sign Pennit
As you know, the City of Carlsbad Housing and Redevelopment Agency approved your
application for a freestanding sidewalk sign. The sign was to be a maximum of 5 feet in
height and 3 feet in width. It has recently come to the City's attention that you are
displaying two signs, both of which exceed 5 feet in height.
The Carlsbad Master Plan allow each business to display a maximum of one sign per
business. By displaying signs which are in violation of the Master Plan and your
approved permit, the signs are subject to immediate removal by the City vdthout further
notice. It is recommended that you remove the signs until either one can be brought into
conformance with the approved permit.
If you have any questions about the above information, please call me at (760) 434-2817.
Sincerely,
Craig D. Ruiz
