Memo ID# 2019042
This memorandum provides an update on the current status of the Village H property transfer
to the city, and is consistent with the City Manager closing comments at the May 7, 2019, City
Council Meeting.
Background
At the April 23, 2019 City Council meeting, staff advised that the terms of a restrictive,
conservation easement over the northern section of this property had been fulfilled. Staff could
then proceed with recording the grant deed and taking city ownership of the property. At that
time, staff expected the recording of the deed to be completed within two weeks.
Discussion
On April 26, 2019, staff published a 'Village H Next Steps' News Release and on May 1, 2019,
staff posted a 'Village H South Trail' webpage on the city's website. On May 2, 2019, staff
posted 'New Ownership/Upcoming Work' signs along the perimeter ofthe southern section of
the property, and placed ;Village H Update' fliers near the pedestrian entry gate.
On May 7, 2019, staff completed or initiated the following activities:
• Recorded the grant deed and took ownership of the property
• Posted 'Temporary Closure/Maintenance Work Underway' signs
• Installed supplemental construction fencing and locks at the entries
• Initiated the required maintenance work to the southern section
Next Steps
Staff expects the above maintenance work, and the corresponding trail delineation and
improvement work, to be completed within 90 days.
Consistent with City Council direction given on April 23, 2019, staff will be publicly noticing and
conducting an outreach workshop and an on line survey during the 90-day period. The purpose
