More than 100 community members attended a public workshop at the Calavera Hills Community Center Saturday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. The workshop format was highly interactive, with project team members sitting at round tables and facilitating discussions among residents about their ideas for the property. Staff provided information about the city's Habitat Management Plan and other background to assist with developing workable options for the City Council's consideration this fall. ------Community members were very complimentary of the city's efforts to gather this input. A post- meeting survey completed by 58 participants provided positive feedback as well. On an agreement scale of one (strongly disagree) to five (strongly agree), following are the average responses for the survey questions: Workshop Feedback I had an opportunity to share my ideas on the Village H project. The format gave everyone a chance to participate. The format made me comfortable sharing my ideas. I feel like city staff really listened to what I had to say. I understand how my input will be used. The city website has information that was shared, including an animated video explaining the unique features of the Village H property. City staff also recorded a time lapse video of the meeting to show other community members what a community meeting is like, encouraging them to participate in future meetings and workshops. An on line survey will be available later this week for community members who were unable to attend the community workshop, or who prefer to provide input this way.
