Gary Barberio, Deputy City Manager, C!t.01rt1unity Services · _ Re: California Coastal Commission Action n the Village & Barrio Master Plan This memorandum provides a status update on the Village & Barrio Master Plan. Background and Discussion On Oct. 16, 2019, the California Coastal Commission (Commission) confirmed the City Council's. Aug. 20 acceptance of the Commission's suggested modifications to the Village & Barrio Master Pian {Master Plan). · With the Commission's action, the city has secured the ~nal approval, and the Master Plan is now effective throughout the Village and Barrio, including in the Coastal Zone. The approved Master Plan also replaces entirely the Village Master Plan and Design Manual applicable to the · Village.· · ,Next Steps A revised, October 2019 Master Plan will be available soon _on line, and in print, and will replace the version dated July 2018. In the meantime, staff has updated the Master Plan website, www.carlsbadca.gov/villagebarrio, with information on the latest action and a link to the adopted City Council Ordinance accepting the suggested modific;::itions. At its Aug. 20, 2019, meeting the City Council also directed staff to bring back for City Council consideration in two months a Work Plan that includes a timeline to address an amendment package for the Master Plan.
