Re: Coastal Conservancy Climate Ready Gra Approval · {cityof ·carlsbad Memo ID# 2019150 This memorandum provides an update to the Nov. 7, 2019, memorandum regarding a Coastal Conservancy Climate Ready Grant to develop a sea level rise (SLR) impact analysis and potential adaption strategies for the southern portion of the Carlsbad coas~line. Background . On July 7, 2019, in partnership with Scripps Institute of Oceanography (SIO)'s Center for Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation, city staff submitted a grant application to.the California Coastal Conservancy. On Sep. 16, 2019, Coastal Conservancy staff notified the city that our grant application was nominated for award. Discussion At their Dec. 19, 2019 meeting, the Coastal Conservancy Board voted to approve the grant. The proposed project would entail modeling of a detailed SLR impact analysis, development of . potential adaptation scenarios, facilitation of discussions with state agencies and preparation bf a report. The total estimated cost is $580,265. The Coastal Conservancy grant will cover $489,075 of the cost, and the City of Carlsbad will contribute staff time to cover the remaining cost.
