Please note, this memo focuses on actions and information that are new since the last update. Emergency Operations Center • Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and response operations and information sharing. • Added EOC Objective 20: Monitor and implement governor’s criteria to modify the stay- at-home order. Regional status of outbreak (all data from April 15 at 5 p.m.) California Confirmed cases 26,681 Increase from day before 2,102 Deaths 834 San Diego County Confirmed cases 2,012 Increase from day before 82 Deaths 60 Carlsbad Confirmed cases 50 Change from day before 1 CORONAVIRUS ACTIONS April 16, 2020 Page 2 State of California • California reported its largest one-day increase in new cases yesterday with 2,102 new cases. This is 650 cases more than the previous largest one-day increase. San Diego County • Staff analysis of COVID-19 cases in San Diego County’s largest cities as a percent of each city’s population: CORONAVIRUS ACTIONS April 16, 2020 Page 3 Human Resources Status of employees with possible COVID-19 exposure Cleared to return to work 33 Self-quarantined due to symptoms, have not been tested 2 Communication & Engagement • Created and shared the following with the public on city communication channels: o Latest COVID-19 numbers in Carlsbad, San Diego and California o Recap of county’s positive cases, ICU numbers and deaths o Extension of driver’s license expiration deadline o New deadline for submitting taxes o Tips on celebrating Earth Month from home o New online library chat feature o Photos of community members engaging in springtime virtual scavenger hunt and Art at Home project o Carlsbad EOC staff photos for #StayHomeSD campaign o Carlsbad Flower Fields virtual tour • Prepared and distributed daily update from the city: o Governor’s roadmap for reopening o COVID-19 budget impacts and budget priorities o Latest numbers o #StayHomeSD campaign o How to stay up to date • Distributed an eblast to the Parks & Rec and Adults 50+ email lists o M-F lunch program o You Are Not Alone program o Health and wellness on City TV o Library @ Home services o County’s Live Well @ Home resources • Updated city’s COVID-19 webpage: o Commonly asked questions o Immediate relief to the food and beverage industry • Updated COVID-19 staff webpage: o Reorganized and updated layout for ease of use o Added recordings of past webinars o Updated supervisor guide • Prepared and distributed employee update #30: o Employee #StayHomeSD campaign on the intranet, wellness webinar and community kudos • Responded to two council inquiries about COVID-19-related issues, for a total of 21. • Responded to 10 questions and comments on the city’s social media platforms and Communication & Engagement department’s email.
