Please note, this memo focuses on actions and information that are new since the last update. Emergency Operations Center • Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and response operations and information sharing. Regional status of outbreak (all data from April 21 at 5 p.m.) Fire Department • Received first shipment of surgical masks that is part of a large order of 140,000 masks to be distributed to more than two dozen fire agencies in the region. A second shipment is expected to arrive Friday. California Confirmed cases 33,958 Increase from previous day* 2,218 Deaths 1,230 *Largest single-day increase so far San Diego County Confirmed cases 2,434 Increase from previous day 109 Deaths* 87 *County said large increase of 15 deaths resulted from delayed reporting Carlsbad Confirmed cases 50 Change from previous day 0 CORONAVIRUS ACTIONS April 22, 2020 Page 2 Library & Cultural Arts • Holding first online meeting of Library Board of Trustees today. • Livestreaming 30-minute jazz pianist concert tomorrow. Parks & Recreation • Added a new virtual scavenger hunt activity for school-aged children using a virtual tour video of Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park. • Canceled special event permit for a fire explorer event originally scheduled for June 8 at the request of the Fire Department, the event’s organizer. Human Resources • Status of employees with possible COVID-19 exposure: Cleared to return to work 36 Self-quarantined due to symptoms, have not been tested 2 Self-quarantined while waiting for test results 2 Information Technology • City staff’s use of Microsoft Teams application for online meetings and telecommuting continues to increase. (Chart shows usage from March 17-April 13. Top line shows total active users by day.)
