This memo focuses on actions and information that are new since the last update. Emergency Operations Center • Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and response operations and information sharing. • CERT delivered 175 face coverings to Tyler Court and Tavarua senior appartments. • Since last reported, one CERT member and staff continue outreach and engagement to hotels, residential and long term care facilities, and restuarants. CORONAVIRUS ACTIONS April 29, 2020 Page 2 Communication & Engagement • Created and shared the following with the public on city communication channels: o Recap of the county and state news conferences, including the four phases to reopening and updated numbers o New symptoms from CDC o Face covering requirement on May 1 o Joint economic recovery and revitalization webinar o NBC7 story about Carlsbad’s neighborhood thank you poster o Timelapse video of Legoland’s thank you to essential workers o Legoland’s building challenge o Family movie night@home o Writing workshop with Carlsbad resident and author o Backyard safari Earth Month at home tip o Good luck charm Art at home project o Virtual family story time o San Diego Humane Society webinar • Prepared and distributed daily update from the city: o Recap of Carlsbad and county’s new positive cases o CDC’s new symptoms o Preview of face covering requirement on May 1 and how to make a no-sew face covering o Reminder about the basics to protect yourself o Play@Home activities o Stories that highlight how to #Care4Carlsbad • Began coordination and materials development for face coverings distribution to the community scheduled for Friday, May 1. • Updated informational maps, flyers and signs for hand washing stations. • Updated virtual activities on the city events website calendar. • Updated staff page with new online training opportunities and past webinar recordings. • Responded to 12 questions and comments on the city’s social media platforms and Communication & Engagement department’s email.
