This memo focuses on actions and information that are new since the last update. Emergency Operations Center • Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and response operations and information sharing. • Received 36,000 face masks from County of San Diego for distribution to the public. • Delivered 4,000 face masks to Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce to support business reopenings. • Continued cordination with Carlsbad Village Association on face mask distribution to local businesses and shopping malls. A total of 90 citations have been issued for parking violations in the area since May 4. Public Works • The Safety Training Center will resume public safety training for other agencies the week of May 26 so long as they follow physical distancing, face coverings and other requirements. • The county Water Authority asked the Carlsbad Municipal Water District and other water agencies to support their request to the state for legislative relief to allow use of federal funds to backfill lost revenue, extend emergency payroll tax credit to public entities, restore advance funding for tax-exempt bonds and provide aid to low-income ratepayers.
