This memo focuses on actions and information that are new since the last update. Emergency Operations Center • Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and response operations and information sharing. • Nearly 22,000 face masks delivered to residents, visitors and businesses since Friday (May 22). • CERT volunteers distributed face masks along the Carlsbad Boulevard sea wall walk through the holiday weekend. • Carlsbad CERT volunteers were highlighted in State of California CERT Program weekly report. Officers have issued 150 parking citations in the area since May 4, 2020. Human Resources • Status of employees with possible COVID-19 exposure: 44 employees cleared to return to work. Parks & Recreation • Canceled special event permits for the Fourth of July fireworks displays at Park Hyatt Aviara Resort Golf Club & Spa and Omni La Costa Resort & Spa at the request of the organizers. Communication & Engagement • Created and shared the following with the public on city communication channels: o Latest COVID-19 case numbers o CERT members handing out face masks at the beach o Livestreams to the state and county news conferences o Reminder that bars are not open yet o Reminder of basic health precautions o Reminder to use physical distance and face coverings on trails o Community actions that save lives o CA Public Health resources in Spanish o Virtual fire engine tour o Hot Rods & Cool Treats virtual event o Live from my living room concert • Created and distributed the following videos: o Progress of moving along in the state’s reopening stages o Physical distance reminder o Shop local and support Carlsbad small businesses o When to put on a face covering when coming closer than 6 feet to another person o Celebration of Public Works Week and pictures of staff accomplishments during COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS ACTIONS May 26, 2020 Page 3 o Virtual tour of a fire engine o Hot Rods and Cool Treats event • Prepared and distributed daily email update from the city: o A recap of what’s open and closed as in-restaurant dining and in-store retail is now allowed o Summary of the current health order o Everyday precautions that help stop the spread of COVID-19 o Latest case numbers o Play@Home activities o Memorial Day observance • Updated COVID-19 webpages: o Reorganized the layout of the open/closed webpage o Added new wellness webinars for city employees o Added new health orders • Distributed COVID-19 employee update #39: o Free reusable masks donated by ASVR for city employees • Designed and produced two banners for community face mask distribution. • Designed and produced 25 signs for use when curbside service resumes at the library. • Responded to two COVID-19-related council inquiries, both on restrictions on community pools. • Responded to 27 questions and comments on the city’s social media platforms and Communication & Engagement Department’s email.
