This memo focuses on actions and information that are new since the last update. Emergency Operations Center • Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and response operations and information sharing. • CERT volunteers assisted by Economic Development staff engaged 310 Carlsbad businesses by delivering 26,500 masks along with packets with reopening information and signs. • EOC liaison conducted second Zoom meeting with congregate care facilities. Discussion focused on best practices for COVID-19 mitigation and mental health strategies for staff and residents. People who signed up for spring and fall sessions have been notified. Human Resources • No change in status of employees with possible COVID-19 exposure: 46 employees who might have been exposed have been cleared to return to work. CORONAVIRUS ACTIONS June 15, 2020 Page 2 Communication & Engagement • Communicated via city communication channels about the following topics related to the COVID-19 public health emergency: o Latest data on Carlsbad cases, 14-day rolling average and the county’s 13 triggers o Personal care businesses that can reopen as soon as June 19 o Reminder about small business loans and business survey o Importance of practicing the basics to stop the spread of COVID-19 o Details on sports camps starting June 15 o Overview of emergency operations center operations o List of latest businesses/activities allowed to reopen o Temporary use of sidewalks and private parking lots by businesses that need more room • Designed and ordered the following: o Floor decals for city facilities to help enforce social distancing when they reopen cc: Celia Brewer, City Attorney Geoff Patnoe, Assistant City Manager Gary Barberio, Deputy City Manager, Community Services Paz Gomez, Deputy City Manager, Public Works Laura Rocha, Deputy City Manager, Administrative Services Michael Calderwood, Fire Chief Neil Gallucci, Police Chief Maria Callander, Information Technology Director David Graham, Chief Innovation Officer Judy von Kalinowski, Human Resources Director Kristina Ray, Communication & Engagement Director Nick Ordille, Assistant Fire Chief Kyle Lancaster, Parks & Recreation Director
