Re: Coronavirus Response Update 77
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the City Council with an update on the city’s
response actions related to COVID-19. This memo focuses on actions and information that are
new since the last update.
Emergency Operations Center
• Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and
response operations and information sharing.

• Increasing lifeguard staffing for the holiday weekend, as we did on past weekends.
o Lifeguards will continue to educate the public on COVID-19 precautions and will
be handing out masks to beachgoers who need them.

• Preparing to have a substantial police presence along the beach this weekend to
encourage compliance with the public health orders.

• Canceled special event permit for the Carlsbad Village Street Faire, tentatively
rescheduled for August 9, at the request of the event organizer.
• Canceled special event permit for Cystic Fibrosis Cycling for Life, originally scheduled for
October 24, at the request of the event organizer.
• Canceled special event permit for the Carlsbad Music Festival, originally scheduled for
July 31-Aug 2, at the request of the event organizer.
