This memo focuses on actions and information that are new since the last update. Emergency Operations Center • Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and response operations and information sharing. Workshops are available on the city’s YouTube channel. • Launched a new series of instructional videos for genealogists doing research online on the city’s YouTube channel in June. The first two videos resulted in a significant jump in the use of the library’s genealogy resources, with a 361% increase in the number of Ancestry Library Edition sessions and a 500% increase in the number of times the Fold 3 Library Edition was accessed in June over May. Parks & Recreation • Canceled special event permits for ArtWalk Carlsbad, scheduled for September 26-27, and for Brewfest, scheduled for September 5, at the request of the events’ organizers. • Installed “Masks Required” signs and banners throughout the city at various parks and on all special event kiosks, to reinforce the public health protocols. • Installed “Warning/Not Allowed/Pick-Up Games/Team Practices” at basketball courts at various parks.
