This memo focuses on actions and information that are new since the last update. Emergency Operations Center • Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and response operations and information sharing. Regional status of outbreak (All data from Aug. 5) California County Carlsbad Confirmed cases 524,722 30,864 500 Increase since last memo 9,821 638 10 Deaths 9,703 578 n/a Human Resources • Status of employees with possible COVID-19 exposure: Cleared, no positive diagnosis 108 Cleared after positive diagnosis 6 Self-isolated due to exposure, not tested 4 CORONAVIRUS ACTIONS Aug. 6, 2020 Page 2 City-by-city comparison • Carlsbad now has the third lowest rate of confirmed cases as a percent of population in local cities with 50,000 or more residents, with a rate slightly higher than those reported in Encinitas and Poway: Homeless outreach team City and county staff at COVID-19 testing site Tuesday. • Coordinated with county health officials to provide free COVID-19 testing for the homeless at the Church of the Advent in the Village on Tuesday. This was the first community testing site in San Diego County for the unsheltered homeless. Twenty- seven people were tested in the single day of screening. Results will be processed within five days and individuals will be contacted directly by phone or email by county nurses. City staff will be notified of the total number of positive and negative tests and the Homeless Outreach Team will be available to help guide people testing positive to resources.
