The video is typically shown at a city-hosted community event, a business event hosted by t he
Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce (scheduled as a virtual event Aug. 21), on the city's cable
channel, via the city's social media and on demand directly from the city's website.
This year's video
The 2020 State of the City video is shorter and less in depth than in previous years to
accommodate the on line meeting forrr:iats where it will be shown. Some of the main areas of
focus include:
• The effects COVID-19 has had on Carlsbad and how the city has responded
• Overview of the city budget
• Public safety
• Affordable housing and homelessness
• Traffic, mobility and other CIP projects
• Economic revitalization
• Environmental sustainability initiatives
• Parks and trails projects
• Community involvement
