This memo focuses on actions and information that are new since the last update. Emergency Operations Center • Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and response operations and information sharing. The genealogist CeCe Moore, from the television show The Genetic Detective, spoke about her work solving a cold case. The program was offered through the library’s partnership with the North San Diego County Genealogical Society. This level of attendance is noteworthy because in the past, we could only host up to 90-100 participants for a program because of room capacity, while many more can participate online. CORONAVIRUS ACTIONS Aug. 18, 2020 Page 4 Parks & Recreation • Update on senior meal program: o Provided 912 meals during the past week to Carlsbad residents 60 or older ▪ 465 meals were delivered to residents’ homes by staff ▪ 447 meals were picked-up at the Senior Center by residents o Total number of meals provided is a 30% increase in the average total number of meals served before the pandemic o Picked up boxes of donated fresh produce from the Carlsbad Strawberry Company and re-distributed the produce through the senior meal program • Offered the following new virtual programs for community recreation: o History Mystery – A beautiful painting titled, “Rail Bridge over Agua Hedionda Carlsbad,” at right, was shared and revealed on the Friends of Carrillo Ranch Facebook and Instagram pages. o Lunch at the Culinary Lab - Participants learned to make campfire eats including breakfast taquitos, shrimp scampi and chicken kebabs.
