With this thought in mind, I, this day, seek the office of City Councilman. I have talked to the Councilmen and Mayor presently seated and feel that I could add another dimension in assisting the council in their future deliberations. In the twenty-five years we have resided here, I have had an excellent opportunity to develop a working relationship with the .many facets of city government while serving on many com- mittees. Through my efforts on the Mayor's Committee, Water Commit- tee (Chairman), Zoning and Housing Committee, arid many civic efforts, I have worked with city managers, staff and city1 councilmen. Jose, Jr. Residence: 2099 Truesclell Lane, Carlsbad, California 92008 Age: 51 Occupation: Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force (Retired) Education: Three and a half years of College; Graduate of Armed Forces Staff College; Air Force Command and Staff School; Army Command and Staff School; Commercial and Command Pilot with over 4,200 flying hours. Qualifications: After retiring from the United States Air Force in 1964, my family and I selected Carlsbad for our permanent home in 1965. Being com- pletely retired, with no business affiliations whatsoever, I decided'to utilize my abilities, experience and spare tjme for civic endeavors. I became Chair- man of the Carlsbad Civic Certter Building Committee; Vfce Chairman, of the Building Authority;-a ittember, Secretary; and Chairman of the Planning Commission since 1967; Commissioner of Carlsbad Business District Action Commission; member of Goals Committee of Community Involvement Com- mittee; as well as a member of the San Diego County Planning Congress and 1967-68 local Chairman for the new Girl Scout Campsite. Some military assignments were as: White Bouse Aide during administra- tions of Presidents Truman and Eisenhower; Executive and Administrative Staff Officer of NATO .Screening and Costing Committee, Paris, France; Secretary of Defense Management Committee; and Office Secretary Air Force Financial and Program Management. Rouse Residence: 3880 Adams Ave., Carlsbad, Calif. 92008 Occupation: Bookkeeper Education: High School Graduate and presently attending classes in the evening to earn a degree in Supervision. Qualifications: My primary qualification is my sincere interest in the devel- opment of Carlsbad. As a woman and the mother of seven children 1 believe I can bring a woman's viewpoint on decisions brought before the council.
