The fills were placed and inspected during the period between March 21 and April 27, 1972. Compacted filled ground had been previously placed on this site during the period between December 24, 1969 and January 13, 1970 and the resulk of task taken during this period were included in our interim report on this prolect dated October 14, 1971. The approximate arece and depths of filled ground placed under our inspection in accordance with the approved specifications are shown on the attached Drawing No. 1, entitled “Location of Compacted Filled Ground.” The gradlng plan used for the placement of filled ground was prepared by Rick Engineering Company, and dated August 20, 1971. The approximate locations at which the recent tesk were taken are shown on Drawing No. 1, revised ce of 5-17-72, and the final test resulk are presented on page No. 3, under the “Table of Test Resulk.” The laboratory determinations of the maximum dry densities and optimum moisture contenk of the major fill materials are presented on page No. 3, under the “Laboratory Test Resulk.” The ksk were taken durlng the weekly periods indicated below: Test Number Week Ending 1 to 13, inclusive March 25, 1972 14 to 22, inclusive April 29, 1972 SlOlO .16.25 - - - - - - - - - Project No. 69-12-23D Lo Costa Land Company -2- May 18, 1972 It is understood that the orea for the proposed Market Building, at the north end of the site, has now been brought to finished grade. Only nonexpansive sails were placed in the upper three feet below finished grade within this building area ond to a horizontal distance of 20 feet oukide the building. The final results of tests and observations indicate that the compacted filled ground has been placed at 90 percent of the maximum dty density or greater. It has been determined that the fill materials, placed in the area for the proposed Market Building and compacted to 90 per- cent of the maximum dry density, have a safe bearing value of 1000 pounds per square foot for footings founded at a depth of one foot below the final compacted ground surface.
